Law enforcement in Sacramento are probing a shooting that broke out late Saturday at the Howe Community Park area as Arden Arcade Sacramento crime 2026 law enforcement were clearing a large unauthorized gathering of hundreds of attendees.
Before the Gunfire
Deputies initially got calls about the park on Howe Avenue shortly before half past six in the evening after receiving reports of individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons. Shortly after, a second call came in describing a possible physical fight happening at Howe Park.
A sheriff's airship scanned the area from the air but reported no active disturbance. Nevertheless, deputies found that an enormous crowd had congregated at Howe Park in an unauthorized manner.
When the Shots Rang Out
Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies moved to clear the area by encircling the gathering and issuing commands over loudspeakers directing the assembled crowd to clear out. Nearly 15 minutes were provided for attendees to disperse.
As the crowd was being cleared that upwards of 20 gunshots rang out. The rapid succession of shots sent the crowd running in all directions. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies wasted no time in searching for victims.
Four Victims Hospitalized
When the dust settled, four individuals were located with gunshot injuries. The shooting victims — including a female and three males ranging in age through their in their mid to late twenties — were airlifted or driven to local Sacramento hospitals. Medical personnel reported that two were treated for serious injuries, one victim's injuries were classified as moderate, and one person's injuries were considered minor. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported and all four were stable.
Sacramento fire crews also responded and provided medical assistance those with gunshot wounds on location.
The Investigation
The bulk of the shooting was confirmed to have happened on Cottage Way close to the Home Depot at the 2200 Howe Avenue block. CSI personnel recovered further ballistic evidence in the form of shell casings throughout the Cottage Way area. Projectile impacts were also found in the iron fence surrounding the Home Depot. The physical evidence indicated that at least one shooter had been shooting in a southerly direction from Cottage Way in the direction of the Home Depot building and parking lot. The Home Depot was secured under a brief lockdown while the scene was active. CSI investigators and detectives worked tirelessly throughout the night.
Suspect Information
Intelligence received through law enforcement radio communications showed that a Kia connected to the shooting was pulled over in Solano County California. Four occupants were in the vehicle at the time of the stop. Sheriff's units were traveling to Solano County to transport the detainees for formal questioning. Surveillance footage established that two separate shooters participated in the incident.
